We are so blessed with the team God has given us! Each one of these young adults has a love for God and a passion to better their community.
Ricotson is our Project Manager – our eyes, ears, hands, and feet on the ground in Haiti. It has been a tremendous encouragement to see Ricotson grow as a student and brother in Christ over the past couple of years. We offered Ricotson a position with Laman Outreach in December of 2016 and it has proven to be a very wise and fruitful partnership. Ricotson does an amazing job of overseeing the Elderly Project, purchasing the supplies, making deliveries, and updating us in real time despite day-to-day obstacles and hardship. Ricotson has deep love for and commitment to his community. His vision is for spiritual, social, and economic revival in Merger de Sibert. Currently, Ricotson attends university and studies engineering.
Bettyna serves as our Health Coordinator on the ground in Haiti. We met Bettyna in 2011 on one of our very first trips to Haiti. It has been both our privilege and pleasure to be part of her amazing story. Bettyna is one of the few in her hometown who has completed high school and then continued on to post-secondary education. She graduated from nursing school in December of 2016, and we were able to bring her on staff in the spring of 2017. Since then, Bettyna has completed a five-month internship at the Hypertension Clinic at Onaville Community Health Center and a two-week intensive with Bon Nouriti Pou Sante learning about nutrition, how to help prevent and improve disease states with nutrition, and teaching methods for sharing this critical information with the general public. Bettyna’s passion resides in bringing life-saving health/medical information to her own community and she does so with both grace and determination. She currently oversees the Hypertension Project within the Elderly Project and is excited about presenting health education classes in our Community Health Education Project this year.
Our relationship with Mirlande extends back to our 2014 trip to Haiti. Mirlande recently finished a university nursing program in December 2017, and we were excited to be able to attend her graduation ceremony on our February 2018 trip to Haiti. We then promptly hired her to join our team. Mirlande has also completed an internship at Onaville Community Health Center in the Hypertension Clinic and now partners with Bettyna to care for our elderly friends in the Elderly Project. In addition to their responsibilities in the Elderly Project, they are a powerhouse teaching team in our Community Health Education Project.
